How Are The Elderly Managing?

When speaking to other agencies I am hearing the same thing. We have all experienced a drop in business. I know the Assisted Living Facilities also have experienced a drop in occupancy as the elderly have not been able to sell their homes inorder to move in ,and their investment earnings have decreased. So that makes me wonder how our elderly population is managing. I would think that there would be more than ever a need for “home care” and since that is not ocurring I suspect people are struggling on their own or have adult children who are now assisting them.
If you have elderly family or friends, please check in with them to see how they are managing in this economy on their own.
We in the healthcare business are all being flexible with our rates as to afford people the assistance that they need.

Remembering Seniors During the Holiday Season

We all get busy during the holidays and often overtired as well. It is a wonderful time for so many of us, but unfortunately there are those who feel forgotten and depressed during this season.

People may get old, but are still able to contribute to the ocassion .  Although my mother passed away eight years ago, her fruit salad, gravy recipe and cranberry mold live on.  We all miss her but have so many fond memories .

So, if possible put mom or dad in charge of something during this coming holiday season and be sure to record the wonderful food and traditions  they introduced you to that you would like to carry forward for the next generation.

I use to go home to visit my mother and she would say “Let’s do a little dinner party while you are here” and we would work side by side and prepare.  She loved to entertain but it was too much to prepare by herself.   How important it is for our elderly to have  nice things to look forward to.

People may get old, but they still enjoy a good time…….

Hello, I am pleased to introduce Personal Senior Services, Inc.

Personal Senior Services is a family owned and operated Nurse Registry that has been providing caregiving services to elderly population in South Florida for over 15 years.

We are state licensed agency serving Palm Beach and Broward Counties.

We select high caliber people who are caring and sensitive to the needs of our clients. We are always aware of the specific requirements of each of our clients. We carefully interview and screen each caregiver we place, and we constantly check with our clients for their evaluation of the caregiver’s performance. We strive to have our clients feel that they can rely on us as they would a son or daughter. We know that often adult children would like to be present for their parents, but may be geographically unavailable or working full-time, and not able to help out in meeting their loved-one’s everyday needs.

We are very excited about starting our blog and looking forward to sharing our experiences and opinions. Please don’ hesitate ask any questions.

Joanna
